I can't do this all on my own...I'm no Superman!
|
For many years in the Care Bear Community we have listened to members attempt to coordinate a gathering. Many times we have seen plans come and go. There have been a handful of small meetings but nothing substantial. We've been waiting for something to happen. It's time! I am announcing a Care Bear gathering for 2009! This will be a collective gathering which will include members from all Care Bear Boards! I want to meet everyone! In order to make this happen, I need some information from everyone. If interested members could please take the time to answer the below questions, it would be very helpful! 1. Would you be able to come? 2. What state (USA), province (Canada), or country do you live in? 3. What state would you prefer to meet in? 4. Are you willing to fly/drive to the meeting? 5. What is the maximum distance you are willing to travel? 6. What time of year/date should it be? 7. How long should the event last? 8. Are you willing to share a hotel room with members? 9. Do you want to help with the planning? I realize that it is important to get these plans in order as soon as possible so everyone can have enough time to save up for this event. Especially any of our non-US members who might wish to attend. The above information will help me make all the needed arrangements! Please (I can not stress this enough) only reply honestly! I realize that everyone would like to come, but I am looking for only serious answers. I need to know this information in order to start making plans. It is very important that I have honest and reasonable responses. Each member will be responsible for their own travel expenses, hotel costs, meals etc. The idea will be to share as much as possible to keep the cost down for everyone (ie 4 members per room, group meals etc). I will need a small army of people to help plan and coordinate the gathering once the planning phase starts. If you are willing to help with the planning/coordination please keep in mind that it might require you to have contact with other members offline (via phone or possibly in person). Also, keep in mind that this will be unsupervised so no one under then age of 18 will be allowed to participate unless they are accompanied by their parent or guardian. I am looking forward to everyone’s reply and I can’t wait to start planning the gathering! Take Care, Jennifer (thetotsbox) |

1. Would you be able to come? YES! 2. What state do you live in? Pennsylvania 3. What state would you prefer to meet in? Wherever. I'm flexible. 4. Are you willing to fly/drive to the meeting? Absolutely. 5. What is the maximum distance you are willing to travel? Anywhere within the USA. 6. What time of year/date should it be? Whenever works for me. Summer is probably the best so as not to interfere with our college students. 7. How long should the event last? At least 3 days. 8. Are you willing to share a hotel room with members? Yes. I call dibs on rooming with you. 9. Do you want to help with the planning? Absolutely! On a side note, I want to thank you for finally getting this off the ground. As some folks know I was trying very hard last summer to set something up for this summer and was unable to get anything accomplished. |

1. Would you be able to come? It really depends on what time of the year it is, where it is, and of course money. 2. What state (USA), province (Canada), or country do you live in? California 3. What state would you prefer to meet in? California 4. Are you willing to fly/drive to the meeting? If I have the money to spare, yes. 5. What is the maximum distance you are willing to travel? I would prefer that it was kept to the west coast, because I don't just have my costs to worry about. I would be with Shaun, so that's two people -- I guess my answers apply for him really as well, then. For me, approximately 300 miles (or closer) from where I'm at would be ideal.6. What time of year/date should it be? Summer. I don't think I'd be able to make it at any other time. 7. How long should the event last? I think 2-3 days is fine. I don't think making it longer would be practical. 8. Are you willing to share a hotel room with members? No. 9. Do you want to help with the planning? If I have the time, I could help out, depending the job. |

I should clarify - when I say West Coast, I mean anywhere from CA, to WA. Even NV would be fine. You should hold it in your backyard, Jennifer. I'm buying a new little car soon, good way to break it in. Always wanted to visit Oregon anyway!

New Home

I'd like to come to the Care Bear gathering, but I got too many problems. I live in Atlantic Canada, and I could only meet near my local home; depending on where I may end up since I'm in the middle of selling a house. As for the date, I think Friendship Day may be the same time as Civic Holiday in Canada (3 days from Saturday to Moonday). I doubt it on how to help with the plan if nessecary. So I'm sorry I never make it no matter what event. |
