This could be old news by now for most of you, but someone mentioned in their LJ tonight, did some more research....wow.... Care Bears along with Strawberry Shortcake, has been sold to CookieJar Entertainment of Toronto Ontario Canada. I think this could be great news...CookieJar used to be known as Cinar, which created shows such as Paddington, Callou, and Zooboomafu. They hold stake in the Canadian version of Cartoon Network, (Teletoon) and their head guy, is the former founder of Nelvana Michael Hirsch...(yes the same guy thats in the credits of all the Nelvana Episodes and movies) IMO it was Nelvana that really 'shaped' the characters into who they are, with the three movies and several seasons of the TV series. Here's hoping they go back to the basics and bring the 'real' characters back. (not that I don't like some of the new characters, it would just be great to have them acting the way they are supposed to....hmmm reminds me of a certian episode with grams bear in it) Anyway...check out the link! http://www.thecookiejarcompany.com/news2.php?id=129 They also are have purchased DIC, so maybe we'll start to see some DVD releases of some of the older shows we haven't seen in years like Inspector Gadget, Popples, etc etc etc) This could be interesting. So how about moving the 'care bear meet' to Canada now LOL (then maybe I can come) |

I'm NOT trying to be mean, but Canada can be a long way off for most members, I wouldn't be able to go myself, not to mention I'm afraid of flying  In Conclusion, Bad Idea for the Gathering for it to be in Canada |

We do have some West Coasters coming in for the gathering. Though I do believe all of them were intending on flying, however.
 You should come out! It's a long drive, but at least the scenery is nice!

heh I was sort of shocked when I saw the news about all this. but after reading it all it might be a good decision, altho you have to understand the care bears probably wont be the same as they once were, but maybe with this new aquisition by CJ the care bears will be made to not resemble kiddy bears. or better yet, the old style plush and toys. we can just only imagine what CJ and hasbro have in store for us. I hope its all for the better I just noticed.. i should have put a "SOLD"sign across the for sale sign.. guess I better fix that lol EDIT: fixed image heh |

 that is just too funny anybody got an email address for somebody at Hasbro? we can start emailing them about wanting the collectors line of bears to revert back to the 20th anniversary style and finish it out with all the bears and cousins (no more floppy style bears).....as well as keep the aical style (and FINISH it completely) for the new generation of fans I'm hoping that since this will be play alongs' last chance to profit off care bears that there will be a ton of new items hitting shelves soon. |
